Matt’s Question

Question: How is it that you have never been married?

Answer:

…my family is all I have…Manila is one place that I would prefer not to raise my own family in because it just doesn’t provide the wholesome environment that I’m looking for.  However, I am Filipino too so Metro Manila will always be one of my stopovers in my  “journey” through life hahaha We all make our mistakes and hopefully learn from them.  I am surrounded by fellow Filipinos but I will never marry one because though everyone says that men are the same everywhere, Filipino males are another breed with very few exceptions.

Of course, my own brother is Filipino but we have the same set of parents who raised us on traditional values that I have come to appreciate only recently. I am proud of my brother because he is responsible, works hard, and has not been wanton to produce an illegitimate child somewhere with some low-class woman; by that I don’t mean someone who has no money but some useless and materialistic woman who only cares to be given what she wants without fulfilling her duties as a good wife and mother.

The definition of “good wife and mother” will depend on my brother.  Will he be happy? Is he happy?  I look to my little Korean niece for clues.  As long as she is happy, then my sister and brother-in-law are doing a good job including my sister’s father-in-law and brother-in-law.  My parents make the effort to go to Korea as often as they can to be with their grandchild.  My sister is a wonderful mother though my father worries about the profanities that come out of her mouth when she’s driving through Korean traffic!  Hahaha …and my little niece worries about how the car is suffering because of my sister.    My 5-year old niece has a name for the car.    My sister has evolved influenced by Filipino, Singaporean, and Korean cultures.  I believe that she has applied that best of what our family have taught her.  It is really a collective effort of the whole family.

That is all I really want – a stable family where all members are happy loving each other though sometimes, they might want to strangle one another for all the different personalities and opinions there are )) You ask me why I have not married all this time.  You have been to Metro Manila so “look” around.  The answer is simple…
